In Loving Memory of Zachary Edwin Nelson
May 29, 1981 – February 6, 2026
Zachary Edwin Nelson was born on May 29, 1981 in Dallas, Texas and passed away unexpectedly at his home in Krum, Texas on February 6, 2026. His sudden passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Raised in Carrollton- Farmers Branch, Texas Zach attended R.L. Turner High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and displayed the natural leadership that would define his life. His talent and dedication on the basketball court earned him a full scholarship to Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kansas where he proudly played college basketball — a testament to his discipline, determination, and competitive spirit.
Zach never met a stranger. His warm smile, outgoing personality, and generous heart made him the light in every room. He lived life fully and joyfully, always bringing laughter and comfort to those around him.
From a young age, Zach learned the value of hard work while accompanying his grandfather on service calls for the family business, Nelson’s Heating and Air, earning the nickname “ZEN.” He later built a successful career in heavy machinery and generators, ultimately becoming a Generator Service Sales Account Manager — a role he loved and in which he excelled, building lasting relationships and earning great respect.
Zach found joy in hunting and fishing with friends and family, gardening, and keeping a beautiful home where loved ones always felt welcome. Above all, his greatest love was his family. His beautiful wife of nine years, Dariela, was his best friend and the love of his life. Together they shared adventures, travels, and countless cherished memories.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Dariela Nelson; his stepdaughters, Alexis Ordonez (Louis Anthony Ordonez Jr.) and Amber Lopez; his cherished grandson, Louis Anthony Ordonez III; his sister, Christina Nelson; his mother-in-law, Alma Perez; his brother-in-law, David L. Perez (Melissa Perez); and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved mother, Rebecca Nelson; his father-in-law, Rufino Perez; his Aunt, Colleen Nelson; his Uncle, Mike, Brad, and Mark Nelson; his Grandfather, Lloyd Doll Nelson; his Grandmother, Geraldine Josephine McMains Nelson and many other loved ones.
Though his time here was far too short, the love Zach gave and the lives he touched will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
Special Message from His Wife
My Sweetest Zach,
From the moment you came into my life, you made it brighter. You were my strength, my protector, my best friend, and the love of my life. You loved deeply, laughed loudly, and gave your whole heart to the people around you. You never met a stranger, and you made everyone feel important. I admired your dedication, your work ethic, and the pride you took in everything you did — whether building relationships in your career, tending your garden, or spending time with your hunting buddies. But what I loved most was the way you loved our family. Thank you for loving me the way you did. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, the quiet moments, and the life we shared. I will carry your love with me every single day. Though my heart aches without you here, I find comfort knowing you are reunited with your precious mother and our family in Heaven. Until the day I see you again, I will honor you by living with the same kindness and strength you showed the world.
Fly high, my love.
Forever yours, Dariela
