William Anthony
Reid
November 25, 1969 – May 21, 2026
William Anthony “Tony” Reid passed away peacefully at home, on the morning of May 21, 2026, after a courageous battle with ALS.
Tony was born in 1969 in Fort Worth, Texas. He spent his childhood growing up in Fort Worth, Lubbock, and Tyler before eventually settling in Denton to complete his bachelor’s degree at the University of North Texas. After graduation, he started a small landscaping business that would eventually become known as “The Lawn Service.”
For more than 30 years, Tony did far more than care for lawns — he built lasting relationships with the families he served. To many of his clients, he became not only someone they trusted, but also a dear friend.
Tony was a constant learner, a gifted storyteller, an artist, and a passionate collector. He will be remembered for his creativity, generous spirit, wicked sense of humor, and the kindness he showed to everyone around him.
Tony is survived by his beloved children, Merrily and Will; his parents, Ross and Le Reid; his brother, Chris Reid and wife, Jennie; his sisters, Amanda Krafft and Caroline Boyd.
Among all of Tony’s accomplishments, nothing meant more to him than his children. Merrily and Will are a beautiful reflection of their father in so many ways. Merrily shares Tony’s gift for storytelling and easy conversation, while Will inherited his dad’s love for collecting the unusual and unexpected. Both carry forward Tony’s creativity and his special way of seeing meaning in the things others might overlook.
There will never be another Tony. He lived life in his own unique way and left a lasting mark on the people and places around him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him, and he will be lovingly remembered always.
We are planning on having a celebration of life as soon as Will completes boot camp. Please check back and we would love for everyone to attend in July.
