IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Clifford
Couch
June 27, 1953 – June 22, 2023
William Clifford Couch
William Clifford Couch, "Cliff", went to the presence of His Father on June 22, 2023, after a long illness and just five days before his seventieth birthday. Cliff was born on June 27, 1953, and reared in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas by his adoptive parents Eugene and Dorothy Couch. He graduated with honors at Samuel High School in Dallas, received a Bachelor of Business Administration at Abilene Christian University and a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University.
Cliff practiced law in large firms in Dallas and Irving as a respected litigator in commercial transactions, probate, and exempt organization law. He was a member of the bar in Texas and was certified to practice in both state and federal court. He attained the recognition of being a Martindale-Hubble attorney which is a prime designation in the legal business. Later, Cliff practiced solo in the Denton area for many years as an accomplished litigator. Cliff was highly respected in the legal community for not only his skill as a litigator and advocate but seeking fair, peaceful, and just settlements without court litigation.
Cliff was an avid runner who had participated in many races in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, and achieved the honor of running in the Boston Marathon in 1993. However, Cliff was well known in the racing community as a master of ceremonies at racing events. He had a very personable and humorous style that entertained many racers and spectators in the racing community.
Cliff was a very devout Christian who was supportive of the church, widows, and orphans. He was on the boards of several ministries and not-for-profits. His lifestyle as a Christian was exemplary of his vocation as an attorney and with his friendships and family. He authored the book Taming the Boiling Pot which covered the crises of life and recovery as a Christian, and is still offered on Amazon.
Cliff will always be remembered by his contagious laugh and his ability to make those around him feel like someone special. He constantly gave and did not expect anything in return. He will be missed by both family and friends. Ironically, this obituary was written on his birthday.
Cliff is survived by his wife Martha "Marti" Couch. He is survived by his children and their spouses, William and Kim Couch II, Jason and Roxy Couch, Caitlin Couch, Joel and Amanda Gorman, Christopher Gorman, Mary and Reid Anderson, and Sean Gorman. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren and several dogs.
Revelation 21:4 - He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.
