William Michael Archer, 65, passed away peacefully at his home in Denton on December 16, 2013. Mike was born on September 24, 1948 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma the son of J.E. Archer and Louise Hodges Archer. Mike joined the Navy when he was 18 years old and served for nine years. During that time he served aboard the U.S.S. Shangri-La, U.S.S Enterprise, U.S.S. Coral Sea and the U.S.S. Talbot. He spent a year in Viet Nam waters aboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea Aircraft Carrier. After leaving the Navy he started truck driving and was still an active driver up until the time of his death. Mike is survived by one daughter, Theresa Wilson and husband Clint of Austin and their children, Justin, Aaron, Braden and Makaila; mother, Louise Mullins and stepfather Bob Mullins of Denton; brothers, Jim Archer and wife Jean of Longview, Brad Archer and wife Faith of Denton, Jeff Archer and wife Donna of Valley View, Robert Archer and wife Susan of Story Wyoming, Cory Mullins of Denton; sisters, Jan Archer and partner Theresa of Denton, Robin Vaughn and husband Johnny of Round Rock, TX, Kellie Mullins of Lillian, TX. ; 14 nieces and nephews and 4 grandchildren. Mike was a member of Gateway United Baptist Church of Denton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the Gateway United Baptist Church of Denton at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday December 17, also at the church. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
