Charles Weldon Burgoon, 88, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2018 in Denton, Texas. Weldon was born in Denton County, Texas on March 2, 1930 the son of Worth Burgoon and Oletha Wilkinson Burgoon.
Weldon is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joy Moseley Burgoon of Denton; his daughter Kippie Wilkinson and her husband David of Denton; son Kris Burgoon and wife Robyn of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren – Clint, Blake, Brooks and Chloe; and three great grandchildren – Dylan, Autumn and Leah.
Weldon was devoted to his family, his business Weldon's Saddle Shop, and the community of Denton County. He served in several organizations throughout his life including Denton County Livestock Association & Youth Fair, North Texas State Fair Association, North Texas High School Rodeo Association, United Way of Denton County, Denton County 4H & FFA organizations, Methodist Church Men's groups, Lions Club, Old Trinity Community Cemetery Association, and many others. He was inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2010 & The NBSSCA Hall of Fame in 2012. He left a lasting impact on his family and his community.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Denton,
201 S. Locust, Denton, TX
with Rev. Don Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Cemetery Denton, TX. A visitation will take place Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 4pm to 6pm at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home,
