Obituary

Wayne Douglas Ferguson, age 64, a long time resident of Lewisville, passed away Monday, February 25, 2008, in Lewisville surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 20, 1943 in Borger, Texas to Frantz "Curley" Ferguson and Edith Dora Brown Ferguson. Wayne married Judy Kay Jackson on July 4, 1964 in Waco, Texas. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lewisville.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Kay; daughters, Amanda Kay Ferguson-Owens and husband, Scot of Lewisville and Brenna Kay DeVoe and husband, Kyley of Justin; grandchildren, Karlee Kay DeVoe, Kenedy Kay DeVoe and Emerson Kay Owens and brother, Tommy Ferguson of Stinnett, Texas.

Wayne saw the value and recognized the potential of Old Town Lewisville. He served on the Lewisville City Council; served as Mayor from 1983-1985 and served on the Lewisville Medical Center Board for over 20 years. While working for Lomas & Netleton Land Development Corporation, Wayne brought Vista Ridge Mall and the 121 bypass to Lewisville. After retiring in 1991 he worked with Texas Red Angus Association and Junior Red Angus Association. He continued to promote Old Town Lewisville, moving his home and business to Old Town and persuading others to open businesses, build homes and preserving historical Old Town. Wayne became our ambassador and icon.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008, at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church in Flower Mound. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton. Dr. Scott Jackson and Reverend Paul Sackett will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Soul Café at First United Methodist Church in Lewisville. The family requests memorial contributions made to the American Cancer Society, Lewisville Unit, 8900 Carpenter Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75247 or the Texas Junior Red Angus Association, P.O. Box 768, Lone Oak, Texas 75453. Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home of Lewisville is in charge of arrangements.
