Wanda Sue Blankenship, lovingly known as Sue, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and the promise of eternal life. She was 87 years old.

Sue was born on June 10, 1938, in Haskell, Texas, to Thurman A. Rhoads and Clara L. Childress. The values instilled during her upbringing in West Texas would forever shape the remarkable woman she became. Throughout her life, she remained deeply rooted in her faith, devoted to her family and friends, and steadfast in her commitment to being a Pastor's wife, helping others and serving the Lord.

Sue shared a loving marriage with the love of her life, Wayne A. Blankenship. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, compassion, and unwavering devotion to one another. Their marriage of 63 years was a testament to enduring love, partnership, and grace.

She is survived by her son, Alan Blankenship of Denton, Texas; her daughter, Connie Blankenship of Los Angeles, California;

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne Blankenship; her parents, Thurman A. Rhoads and Clara L. Childress; her sister, Carolyn Kitchens; and her brother, Roy Don Rhoads.

Sue graduated from Hardin-Simmons University, earning her bachelor's degree and embarking on a life dedicated to caring for others. Outside of her ministry with Wayne, she was an administrative assistant at TWU and Ken Stockdale Realtors. One the greatest joys of her life was being a mother to Alan and Connie which she expressed often. She believed that true purpose was found not in what one accumulated, but in the lives one touched. Whether through her community at Southmont Baptist Church, or simple acts of kindness, Sue quietly and faithfully lived out her Christian values every day.

Those who knew Sue will remember her unwavering faith, her generous heart, and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved. She possessed a rare gift for encouraging others and offering comfort during life's most difficult moments. Her strength was quiet but unwavering, and her love knew no bounds.

While her family grieves the loss of her earthly presence, they take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with those she loved and has heard the words she longed for most: "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Sue's legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the faith she shared, and the family she cherished so deeply. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered with love, gratitude, and admiration.

"Her children arise and call her blessed." — Proverbs 31:28
