Walter Asa Winsett, 72, of Denton, died Saturday, June 6, 2015 at his home in Denton.
Mr. Winsett was born on October 11, 1942 in Dallas to Milo Asa and Louise Love (Metcalfe) Winsett. He was married to Stella Reynolds on September 11, 1965 in Dallas. He graduated Sunset High School in Dallas in 1960; earned his B.A. from North Texas State University (now UNT) in 1966; earned his M.A. from Texas Technological College. He was a member of the Episcopal Church. He had previous careers as vice president of All-Church Press in Fort Worth, then the country's largest publisher of religious newspapers, and had taught English at Texas Technological College, now Texas Tech University, and what now is Texas State University. He retired from the Denton Public Library in 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Reynolds Winsett of Denton; daughters, Phaedra Strecher of Petaluma, CA, Mila Winsett of Denton; sister, Vicki Young and her husband Bob of Dallas; brother, The Rev. Stephen M. Winsett and his wife Veronica of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren; one nephew and four nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 11, 2015 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 1200 N. Elm St., Denton.
