Walter Carl Sorensen, 94, of Denton, died Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Denton Good Samaritan Village in Denton.
Mr. Sorensen was born on August 29, 1924 in New York City, NY to Carl Christian and Sigfrida (Larsen) Sorensen. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was married to Lois Ann Pengilly on July 3, 1948 in Jamaica, NY. He was a Paleontology Technician for the American Museum of Natural History in New York City for 35 years and a volunteer fireman in Lakeview, NY. He and his wife retired to Denton, TX in 1988. He was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Denton and volunteered at the Denton Food Center.
He is survived by daughter, Christine Marion and her husband Michael Marion of Krum; sons, Peter Henry Sorensen and his wife Rev. Ricarda Sorensen of Carroll, IA, Carl Walter Sorensen of Krum; grandchildren, Sarah, Malaika, Rachel, Karl; great-grandchildren, Bella, Soren, Hadrian.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Denton Good Samaritan Chapel, 2500 Hinkle Dr. Denton. Rev. Craig Hunter will officiate the service. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Park, Denton.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Denton Food Center; Trinity Presbyterian Church of Denton; Denton Good Samaritan Village.
