Walter Wayne Ashley, age 95, of Corinth, Texas, peacefully passed away on August 6, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 24, 1931, in Sanger, Texas, to Arthur and Bessie Josephine Ashley.

Walter dedicated 26 years to shaping young minds as a teacher at Denton High School, where he was respected not only for his knowledge but for the lasting impact he made on generations of students. After retiring from education, he began his career in real estate, continuing his passion for serving others and his community. His commitment to service extended far beyond his profession. Walter faithfully served as a deacon in his church, living out his faith through compassion, humility, and leadership. He also had the honor of serving as Mayor of Corinth, where he worked to strengthen and support the community he loved. Walter will be remembered for his unwavering devotion, deep faith, and generous spirit that he shared with many. His kindness touched many lives throughout the years.

His family- Beloved Wife Bernice Ashley of 74 years; four children: Karen Ashley (Self) and husband Steven Self, Beverly Ashley (Akin) and husband Hank Akin, Brent Ashley, Kent Ashley; 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

A visitation will be held on Sunday August 9th at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home in Denton from 4-6pm.

A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church Corinth on Monday August 10th at 10am. His family is grateful for the kindness, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time.
