Owen
December 29, 1930 – August 23, 2025
Wade Buford Owen, 94, of Denton, Texas, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on August 23, 2025.
Born on December 29, 1930, in Denton to Oscar and Vernon Owen, Wade lived a life marked by faith, service, and love. He worked alongside his father building houses before spending most of his career in the insurance business. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and carried the values of honor, courage, and integrity with him throughout his life. Those who knew him respected his strong work ethic, honesty, and willingness to help others.
At the heart of everything he did was his faith in Jesus Christ. He was a man of prayer, a faithful member of Gateway United Baptist Church in Denton, where he served as a deacon and sought to live out his beliefs daily. His faith gave him strength, guided his decisions, and became the legacy he passed on to his family.
Wade deeply loved his family and cherished the time spent with them. He found joy in teaching, encouraging, and sharing life with those he loved most. He also had a deep appreciation for God's creation and spent countless hours outdoors. Whether fishing on a quiet morning, hunting in the fall, camping under the stars, or traveling to new places, he enjoyed the beauty of nature and the adventure of the journey.
He is survived by his son, Steve Owen (Kim); daughters, Susan Howser (Jim), Diane Owen, and Sherri Gebert; grandchildren, Jennifer Waters (Warren), Steven Owen (Ashleigh), Greg Owen (Megan), Stephanie Gonzales, Brent Fangman (Jessica), Adam Fangman (Vanessa), Kolton Gebert, Korey Gebert, and Kody Gebert; and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Ava Ciccarello, Myla and Grady Owen, Iliana Gonzales, Lexington, Kenzington, Remington, Kaiden, and Amilia Fangman.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Joan, and his sister, Glenda Maxwell. His memory will be treasured by all who knew him, and his legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to inspire.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at Gateway United Baptist Church in Denton on Saturday, August 30th at 2:00 PM. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
