Obituary

Virgin R. McLarry, age 93, of Lewisville, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2008, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 16, 1914 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Vert and Hattie McLarry. He became a Christian at the age of 11. Virgil married Melba Banes on July 3, 1942 in Durant, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army during World War II. After his service in the army he returned to Richmond, California where he worked in the shipyards. He then moved back to Texas where he worked on the Denison, Grapevine and Lewisville Damns operating heavy machinery. In 1957 he went to work for Texas Parks and wildlife until his retirement in 1977. Virgil was an ordained deacon and member of First Baptist Church in Lewisville. He was a 32 nd degree mason and member of Lewisville Masonic Lodge #201, a member of Hella Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite and Order of Eastern Star #935.

He is survived by his wife, Melba; daughter, Thresa Gray of Grand Prairie; three grandsons, seventeen great grandchildren; sisters, Lavelle Clay of Cartwright, Oklahoma and Norma Moore of Longview, Texas.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2007, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville.

Dr. Stephen G. Hatfield will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to be made to First Baptist Church building fund or Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for children. For online condolences please go to www.mulkeymason.com.
