IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Victor Lee
Schneider
June 10, 1955 – August 13, 2024
Victor Lee Schneider, age 69, passed away peacefully at his home on August 13, 2024. Vic was born June 10, 1955, in Sterling Illinois, the son of George and Ardetta Schneider. In 1967, the Schneider family relocated to Denton, Texas, where Vic would go on to make a lasting impact in his community.
In 1972, while still in high school, Vic and his brothers and sister, along with their father, co-founded Fish 'n' Chirps Pet Center, a venture that would become a cherished family business. He graduated from Denton High School in 1973 and soon after began his service to the community by joining the City of Denton Fire Department in 1974.
During his time with the fire department, Vic volunteered at Cumberland Children's Home, where he met the love of his life, Suzi. They were married on September 12, 1975, beginning nearly 49 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Vic's commitment to service extended beyond his local community when he joined the United States Air Force in 1977. The following year, he welcomed his son, Slade, into the world, followed by the birth of his daughter, Amanda, in 1982.
In 1990, Vic became an active member of the Denton High-Noon Lions Club, where he served as Club President from 1992 to 1993. His dedication to the Lions Club was recognized with the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow award, a testament to his commitment of helping others.
In June of 1994, Vic survived a brain AVM, a life-altering event that left him disabled. Despite this, Vic's love for life remained unwavering. He continued to work at the family pet shop, actively participate in the Lions Club, attend church, and enjoy the activities of his grandchildren. He was known for his joyful spirit, often playing his harmonica, going out to dinner, attending baseball games, and always having a trick up his sleeve to bring smiles to those around him.
Vic is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ardetta Schneider; and his sister, Georgia Oringderff. He is survived by his loving wife, Suzi Schneider; his son, Slade Schneider; his daughter-in-law Amy Schneider; his daughter, Amanda Shivers and her husband Wes Shivers; his grandchildren, Christian Schneider, Kayden Shivers, Faith Schneider, and Kannon Shivers; and his great-granddaughter, Haisley Schneider. He also leaves behind his brothers, Mark Schneider and his wife Jane, and Daniel Schneider, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
