Vernon Lee Long, 67 of Denton, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2010 at Denton Regional Medical Center. He was born July 29, 1943 in Chickasha, OK to Homer and Martha (Chastain) Long. He was married to Jerrine Maltbie on December 15, 1961 in Clayton, NM. He attended the Nazarene Church and was a retired construction worker.

A grave side funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Roselawn Memorial Park, 3801 Roselawn Dr..Denton, with Rev. Bruce Chamberlain officiating. The family will be at the Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 for visitation from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Family will be provided at the Denton Elks Lodge after the service.

Mr. Long is survived by his wife, Jerrine Long, daughter Cindy & Al Thompson, sons Bode & Sharon Long, Hank & Jennifer Long, all of Denton, and Keny Long of Norman, OK A sister Valery Brady of Shawnee, OK ; grandchildren Melissa and Sammy, Jennifer and Demingo, Steven and Tess, Chris and Jennifer, Amber and Mitch, T.J., Dusty, Miranda and Grynlea; and great-grandchildren Sammy, Eli, Addison, Landan and Makaylee. He was preceded in death by his parents Homer and Martha Long and brothers Warren and Kenneth Long.
