Obituary

Vernon L. "Pops" Lewis, age 80, of Lewisville, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2009, at his home.

He was born May 26, 1929 in Board Camp, Arkansas to Charles Berry Lewis and Dollie Melinda Bates Lewis. Vernon served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Ruth Bloyed on October 20, 1951 in Gustine, California. Vernon and Mary Ruth were founding members of Grace Community Assembly of God in Flower Mound.  People were his passion.  He touched many lives with his servant heart and also during his years as a minister.  He will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Mary Ruth Lewis; daughters, Twila Anderson of Grapevine and Teresa Lewis of Dallas; grandchildren, Kelsi Webber, Krista King, Rachel Weiner and D.J. Anderson III; great grandchildren, Taylor King, Grayson King, Payton Webber and Hunter Webber and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2009, at Grace Community Assembly of God. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. The family requests memorial contributions made to Grace Community Assembly of God.
