Vernice Funk, 98, of Denton passed away on April 19, 2016 at her home, Willow Bend Assisted Living. She was born January 20, 1918 in Haskell County, Texas to A. D. and Pearl (Sargent) Irick. She was married to Rev. Joe M. Funk on November 7, 1935 in Denton and he passed away on April 13, 2010. She was a graduate of Munday High School, and attended NTSTC (UNT) and TSCW (TWU). She is a member of the Elm Ridge United Methodist Church, and was retired from Moore Business Forms in Accounting.
Mrs. Funk is survived by daughter and son-in-law Melvena and Benny Noles of Navo, sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Alice Funk of Ramona, CA and Fred and Dana Funk of Krugerville, twelve grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 17 great- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by great-grandson Jeremy Thacker and sister Lera D. Irick.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust Denton. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Elm Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Stark officiating, assisted by Dr. Boyd Sawyer. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
