Verna Joy Moseley Burgoon, 91, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024 at Willow Bend Assisted Living and Memory Care facility in Denton Texas.  Joy was born in Denton County, Texas on November 15, 1932, the daughter of Lonnie and Pauline Moseley.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Weldon Burgoon who passed away in 2018, and her grandson Blake Wilkinson who passed away in 2019.   She is survived by daughter Kippie Wilkinson and her husband David of Denton; son Kris Burgoon and wife Robyn of Redondo Beach, CA; three grandchildren Clint Wilkinson and wife Laurie Leigh of Denton, Brooks Burgoon and wife Lindsay of Palos Verdes, CA, and Chloe Burgoon Grimes and husband Scott of Austin, TX; and 5 great grandchildren – Dylan, Autumn, Leah, Johnny and Henry.

Joy was devoted to her family and friends, and spent many years employed at the Denton Laundry and Moore Business Forms where she held positions in the accounting department.  She was faithfully committed to the First United Methodist Church of Denton where she participated in the United Women of Faith Group, and where she loved to sing and dress to the nines on Sunday mornings.  She was a committed part of her husband's business, Weldon's Saddle Shop.  Together they supported numerous youth, rodeo, and agriculture organizations throughout Denton County.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Cole Chapel, First United Methodist Church of Denton, 201 S. Locust, Denton TX with Pastor Sheryl Gallarneau officiating.   A viewing will take place prior to the funeral beginning at 10:00am.    Burial will follow in the Trinity Cemetery Denton, Tx.
