Vergie Underwood, age 94, of Lewisville, passed away Friday, February 9, 2007, in Garland.

She was born August 24, 1912 in Denton County to Frank and Lena Crawford Rhinehart.
Vergie married E.L. "Panny" Underwood on July 1, 1936 in Denton. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1991. Vergie was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lewisville and was a member of Order of Eastern Star. She worked as a cafeteria worker in the Lewisville Public Schools.

She is survived by her daughter, Wetonna Atherton of San Antonio; son, Edwin "Pete" Underwood and wife, Nellva of Garland; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
and her sisters, Frankie Robison of Balch Springs and Ester Lester of Denton.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church in Lewisville. Interment will follow in Old Hall Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.
