Obituary

Ursula "Oma" Osterhues
February 21, 1942 – July 6, 2025

Ursula Osterhues, lovingly known to all as "Oma," passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on July 6, 2025, in Denton, Texas.

Born on February 21, 1942, in Braunschweig, Germany, Ursula was the daughter of Elsbeth Beherns Kahmann and Hermann Kahmann. In 1961, she married Heinrich B. Osterhues and together they emigrated to the United States in 1962, beginning a new chapter of life rooted in devotion to family and a deep appreciation for nature and exploring the world around them. Ursula was married to Heinrich for 50 wonderful years, during which they truly lived the American dream.

Oma was a woman of immense generosity and spirit. She poured her heart into every detail of her family's lives—from sewing and crafting handmade treasures to planning magical outings to the zoo, the arboretum, camping trips, and vacations filled with joy and discovery. Her creativity, love for animals, and passion for the outdoors touched every life she encountered, especially her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandson and her Niece Barbara Luecht and her family. She built a life filled with love, family, and creativity.

She is survived by her daughters, Gabrielle Davis (Randy Davis), Deborah Baker (John Baker); her grandchildren, Josh Davis (Allie Davis), Zach Davis, Nicole Baker, and Nathan Baker; and her great-grandson, Lucas Davis. Her influence lives on in the laughter, traditions, and stories she passed down through generations.

A small outdoor service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas on Friday July 25, 2025 at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, Ursula would have preferred donations be made to The Seeing Eye at seeingeye.org or to the North Texas Food Bank at give.ntfb.org— both causes were very close to her heart.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love she gave, the adventures she created, and the warmth she brought to all who knew her.
