Troy "Daw" Leon Mankin. – 87, of Krum, Texas, passed away on February 23, 2022 surrounded by his family in Pottsboro TX.  All arrangements are under the careful direction of Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home in Denton. A Funeral Service is planned for 2:00 pm at Plainview Baptist Church on Saturday March 5, 2022. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm before the service.

Troy was born on July 6, 1934, in Denton, Texas to the late Jess and Alma Mankin.  He spent his childhood in Denton County, graduating Denton High school in 1951, before attending Drawns Business College. Troy met his wife Patsy Jo Emerson in Dallas TX in 1954, and they married December of that same year. Troy was a relentlessly hard worker starting his professional career at Ford Motor Company and holding key positions at Lone Star Gas, Moore Business forms, and ultimately retiring from Victor Equipment. Troy was well known in the community as a well-rounded and skilled tradesman. He was the founder of the Krum Fire department, Designer and builder of the Krum youth baseball program and facilities.

A fully devoted follower of Christ, Troy was a deacon in the church, a trusted advisor and book keeper and organized the Krum First Baptist Royal Ambassadors youth program. Passionate about youth programs and animal husbandry Troy lead the Krum 4H club to many titles.

Troy had a true servants heart and never missed an opportunity to help those in need. He could be found repairing his neighbors' homes barns and business, including roofing, plumbing, and painting shelters for the widowed and orphaned, among many other contributions to his community.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents Jess and Alma Mankin.  He is survived by his wife of 67 years Pat Mankin, daughter Kathi (Thomas), son Craig (Kim); grandchildren: Trent Burkham, (Lara), Kayla Mccullough (Michael) Chris Mankin, Kyle Mankin (Lacy), and Spencer Adkins; great grandchildren: Tori Burkham, Luke, Blake and Parker McCullough, Hayley Mankin, Briar Bennet Mankin, Brooklyn and Jackson Adkins, many cousins, and friends.

For all who knew him (which is just about everyone), he is remembered for his relentless work ethic, his caring nature, and his love for family and friends. He is sorely missed by all who knew him.
