Travis James Masters, age 19, of Coppell, passed away April 25, 2008 in Grapevine Texas resulting from an automobile collision. Travis was born December 6, 1988 in Carrollton Texas. He was a 2007 graduate of Coppell High School and was currently enrolled as a freshman at Oklahoma State University majoring in business. Travis is survived by his parents, Robert J. Masters and Jovie Flores Masters and sister, Olivia Lorraine Masters all of Coppell and his beloved Schnauzer 'Max'; grandparents, Harold A. Masters and the late Barbara Colson Masters both from Boise, Idaho; the late Arminda Gonzalez Flores from McAllen, Texas; godparents, Joe and Doreen Gonzalez and daughter Mandy from Houston, Texas; aunts and uncles, Harold J. and Dixie E. Masters from DeBary, Florida; George T. and Kathleen M. Masters of Poulsbo, Washington; Irene Masters Jansen and Dirk Jansen of Renton, Washington ; and the late Rick Masters, as well as many cousins and an abundance of friends.
Travis will be remembered for being a friend to all, he never met a stranger and was not quick to judge. He always found the best in everyone. Travis had been a member of Boy Scout Troop 841 and had achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He loved motocross, mountain biking, hiking, camping, cars and music. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and had been active in Life Teen. While attending college at OSU, he became a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. One of Travis' favorite quotes was "life's possibilities are endless."
A Rosary Service will begin Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at 6:30 pm. Following the Rosary, at 7:00 pm, there will be readings and a time of sharing and visitation. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 2:00 pm. All services will be held at Saint Ann's Catholic Church in Coppell.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Travis Masters Troop 841 Memorial Fund, C/O St. Ann Catholic Parish, 180 Samuel Blvd, Coppell, TX 75019. The fund will be used to sponsor a Boy Scout from Troop 841 to attend a Boy Scouts of America High Adventure camp each summer.
