Tommie Jean Thompson, of Denton, died Saturday, January 22, 2022, at her home. She was born on March 7, 1940, in Atoka, OK to James Nunley and Juana Jean (Hunnicut) Bray. She was raised in Oklahoma, and Midland TX. She married Thomas Thompson II (Tony) of Childress, and together they raised three children.
During her professional career she worked as a legal secretary for Minor and Knight Law office, she was Vice President of Loans for Denton Savings and Loan. She was also an Escrow Officer for U.S. Life Title, Safeco Land Title, and retired from Title Resources.
Tommie Jean enjoyed camping, fishing, and taking trips with her friends and family, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. The family often vacationed in Red River, New Mexico, where she enjoyed cabin-life, and the outdoors. She also enjoyed 'going across the river' with Maxine and the gang. She attended Denton Bible Church.
Tommie Jean is survived by her daughters, Tina Grahl (David) of Sanger, Traci Thompson of Denton; son, Tony Thompson III, (Karen) of Denton; "Memaw" also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Jesse Grahl (Mari), Steven Grahl (Megan); Casey Futch (Alisa); Kristen McElroy (David); Hannah Thompson; Leah Shriver (Davis); and Sarah Thompson; Great-grandchildren, Adrian, Audrey, Gracie, Ashton, Ellie, Wesley, Harrison, Cason; sisters, Jo Anne of Austin, Patsy of Tennessee, Gaylene of Austin, and close friend Maxine Jones of Denton. She was preceded in death by Tony Thompson II, two brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 29, 2022, in the chapel of Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton.
