Obituary

Timothy Ryan, 82, of Argyle, died January 23, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.
Tim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Antoinette Ryan of Argyle; sons, Gavin Ryan and his wife Debbie and sons Brandon and Connor of Plano, Patrick Ryan and his wife Barbara and sons Michael and Sean, of Pittsford, NY; sisters, Mona O'Shea of Dublin, Ireland, Carmel Duff of County Meath, Ireland, Mel Crowley of County Cork, Ireland; and many other relatives. Tim was a parishioner at St. Marks Catholic church in Denton, TX.
Tim was born on November 26, 1927 in Kildare, Ireland to Patrick and Kathleen (O'Brien). He was raised by his mother, and his loving step-father, Roger Campion, in Dublin. Tim moved to London in 1949, where he played for the Queens Park Rangers soccer team. Two years later he crossed the pond and immigrated to America, settling in Michigan. He was married to Antoinette Pop on June 27, 1953 in Detroit. After serving two years in the US Army, 3rd Armored Division, Tim began a lifelong career as a sales and advertising executive, working for companies such as BBD&O, J Walter Thompson, and E.F. MacDonald. He traveled the world on business trips and has thousands of friends spanning the globe. Tim never met a stranger and entertained all with his Irish wit, his zest for life, and his never ending positive attitude. An avid woodworker, he liked nothing better than building furniture for friends and family at home in his workshop. Holidays were always spent at "Nana's and Papa's" where Tim delighted in watching his grandsons grow up playing sports in the back yard. An enthusiastic golfer his whole life, Papa was known for his miracle golf shots and his "never give up" approach to the game. He attended the 2004 Masters where he witnessed his countryman, Padraig Harrington make a hole in one on the 16th hole on Sunday!
