Timothy Shaun Morrissy, 65, of Denton, died Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.
Mr. Morrissy was born on June 28, 1950 in Detroit, MI to Gerard Patrick and Genevieve Mary (Groch) Morrissy.
Tim grew up in the Detroit area with his parents and six other siblings. Being the eldest of the seven, he would spend the mornings and evenings hitchhiking to and from school. He grew up playing baseball and even attained the local paper's headline of "Slugging Outfielder". He married Michele (Lorraine) Lanham and moved to Denton, Texas where he worked as Vice President of Purchasing at Sally Beauty Supply and had his first daughter, Genevieve. He opened several successful restaurants in Denton such as Southside Grill, Cozy Oaks, and Little Italy. He later re-married to Jill (Owens) Alverson, and welcomed his second daughter, Brooke.
Tim is pre-deceased by his parents, Jean and Jerry, his sister, Colleen, and his brother Bob. He is survived by his daughters, Genevieve Morrissy and Brooke Morrissy, and his sisters Ellen Morrissy, Mary Johnson, Nora Morrissy, and Patty Plue and her children Morgan, Matthew and Brendan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held in his hometown in Michigan at a later time. Condolences may be sent Care of Genevieve Morrissy 2113 N. Elm St. Denton, TX 76201
