Thomas Marlin "TJ" McWhorter, Jr., 42, of Denton, died Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Medical City Hospital in Denton.

TJ was born on December 3, 1975 in Sherman to Thomas Marlin and Darlene (Proffer) McWhorter, Sr. He started, owned and operated McWhorter Excavation. Not much made TJ happier than dirt working except his children and longtime buddy, his Black Lab "Tuff".

He is survived by his daughters, whom he loved,  Emma D. McWhorter of Sanger, Madison M. McWhorter of Argyle; and his sons, who he was so very proud of, Tristin M. McWhorter of Denton, Noah T. McWhorter of Argyle, Elijah McWhorter of Denton; and his loving family: sisters, Angie Hair of Proctor, Shannon M. McWhorter of Lebanon, OH, Keedra Chrisman of Belton; brother, Katlan Gaitan of Dublin; mother, Darlene Gaitan and her husband Frank of Dublin; father, Thomas Marlin McWhorter, Sr. of Davis, OK; grandmother, Anna Margaret Hunter of DeLeon; and former wife, who loved him until the end, Ashley S. Ledbetter McWhorter of Argyle. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Hannah Sue McWhorter.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 17, 2018 at Roselawn Memorial Park, 3801 Roselawn Dr., Denton . Pastor and friend of the family, Brian Hackney will officiate the service.
