Thomas Ward Stever, 91, of Denton, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.
Mr. Stever was born on December 13, 1922 in Pittsburgh, PA to Homer Frank and Beulah (Ward) Stever. He graduated from Tyrone High School in 1940. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II, serving as a bombardier in North Africa with the 12th Air Force. He also served in the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Thomas was a lifetime member and past chapter president in Florida of the Air Force Association. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Denton, TX and had retired from the Homelite division of Textron, Inc. His second career was as Executive Vice President of Waterbury Equipment in Shelton Ct.
He is survived by his son, Thomas E. Stever, and wife Connie, of Denton; three grandchildren, Nancy DeBinder, Joanie Rouk, Maggie Stever; four great-grandsons. Thomas was the oldest of seven children; his surviving siblings are a sister, Sara Markel of Tyrone, PA; and brothers, George Stever of Tyrone, PA, Jim Stever of Pleasant Gap, PA.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at The Vintage Retirement Home 205 N. Bonnie Brae, Denton, TX.
