Obituary

Thomas Arnold Farlow, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 88. His life was marked by service, adventure, faithfulness, and deep affection for those he loved.

Tom was born on April 6, 1937 in Sanford, North Carolina, the first son to Roscoe and Golda Farlow. Tom's parents both died during his teenage years, and Tom and younger brother Gary were adopted by Roscoe's business partner George Brotherton along with his wife Bea. After completing his studies at East Carolina College in 1959, Tom answered the call to serve his country and embarked on a distinguished career in the United States Air Force. As a pilot and officer, he demonstrated courage, skill, and leadership that earned the respect of all who served alongside him.

Following his military service, Tom continued his love of flying in the civilian skies as a commercial pilot for Braniff Airlines. His years in the cockpit took him across the country and around the world, where he built lifelong friendships and collected countless stories that he would fondly share over the years. When his career at Braniff ended in 1982, Tom began a second career as a successful small business owner in Denton, Texas.

Tom's life was rich with the warmth of many friendships. His easygoing nature, quick wit, and kind heart endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Whether in the cockpit of an airplane, working together with friends to restore a vintage car, or around the dinner table with family, Tom brought joy, laughter, and genuine connection to every gathering.

Above all, Tom was a family man. He built a home and a family with Cynthia Farlow, and their marriage of 49 years ended only upon her death in 2010. He later married Carolyn Coward and in their almost 13 years of marriage, Tom made many special memories with her and her family. He was a proud and supportive father to his sons, Michael and Matt, a loving father-in-law to Matt's wife Jenn, and a devoted grandfather to his three cherished granddaughters, Ellie, Chloe, and Emma Kate, with whom he shared treasured memories and many fun jokes.

While we will grieve Tom's absence in our daily lives, there is great comfort in knowing that because of his faith in Jesus Christ, he is fully alive at home in heaven. His legacy is one of honor, compassion, service, and enduring love. He will be deeply missed but remembered always by those whose lives he touched.

The family will receive friends for visitation at 4:00pm prior to a memorial service at 5:00pm on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home (705 N.
