Rev. Thomas E. Blevins, 86, of Aubrey, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on January 21, 2011. He was born on February 8, 1924 in Phoenix, Arizona, to W.G. and Lillian Blevins. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII until his honorable discharge from being wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He is a recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Presidential Citation for his heroic service to our country. He responded to God's call to ministry and was ordained by the Assemblies of God. Rev. Blevins pastored churches in Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas before retiring after 55 years.
Rev. Blevins is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy E. Blevins; three children, Dwayne (& Genna) Blevins of Denton, Donald (& Carla) Blevins of Alto, NM, Harold (& Pam) Blevins of Aubrey, and Glenda Blevins of Denton; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.
The family will welcome friends on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Eagle Pointe Community Church, 1310 Lindsey St., Denton. The Rev. Deryl LeBlanc and Rev. Samuel Nuckels will be officiating, as well as special speaker Ret. Lt. Col. Jim Wheeler of the Veterans Administration. Interment will follow at Cooper Creek Cemetery.
