Sue Frances Wilks Gray

Sue Gray of Denton died May 8, 2022.  She was born January 27, 1938 to Rowena Newman Wilks and Clint Wilks. Her brother, Bill, was 8 when she was born. Her hometowns were Athens, Denton, and Corsicana, TX. She graduated from Corsicana High School in 1956 and from North Texas in 1959.

In 1958 Sue was married to Ed Gray in Corsicana. They had two children, Beth and Guy, and their grandchildren were Clint and Sarah. Sue was an active member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. Her areas of service were in church and volunteer pursuits through the years, and her vocations were wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, friend, teacher and service coordinator.

Preceded in death by Ed, her husband of 54 years in 2012, her parents and brother, Sue is survived by her children Beth Whipple (Randy) of Denton and Guy Gray (Tracey) of Bella Vista, Arkansas, grandchildren Clint Goocher of Houston and Sarah Goocher of Denton, sister-in-law Bunny Wilks Heroman and her children Bill Wilks (Cindy), Bob Wilks ( Sherrie), Betsy Wilks, Anne Heroman Jeanmard (Mark) all of south Louisiana, great nephews Ken and Joey Wilks, great nieces Ashley Wilks Eberle, Lainey Wilks, Mary Collier Wilks, great-great nieces Lydian and Rebekah Wilks, great-great nephews Nate Wilks, Henry and Johnathan Eberle; step grandchildren Ryan Whipple of San Antonio and Jessica Whipple of Denton, step great-grandson Brayden Whipple, and countless friends from all walks of life.

Donations may be made to Our Daily Bread, the Pastor's Discretionary Fund or Presbyterian Hunger Fund at St, Andrew Presbyterian Church marked with desired designation (300 West Oak, Denton, TX, 76201): or to a ministry or charity of the donor's choice. A memorial service will be at St, Andrew Presbyterian Church in Denton, TX on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana, TX on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
