IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen Joseph
Hovanetz
February 1, 1956 – December 15, 2025
Celebration of Life
New Life Church
Starts at 10:00 am
Stephen Joseph Hovanetz was born on February 1, 1956. A self-proclaimed "Army brat," he eventually settled with his family in Mount Arlington, New Jersey, where he spent his summers playing on Lake Hopatcong with siblings and cousins. He also cherished time in the kitchen, watching his Mammy and mother cook—experiences that sparked a lifelong love of food and led him to become a talented chef in his own right, widely admired for his culinary skills.
Steve spent many years working in the hospitality industry as a salesman, most recently providing high-speed internet services to large hotel chains. In retirement, he embraced life as a devoted dog dad and found joy putzing around in his garden.
Above all else, Steve's greatest pride and joy were his children, Kelsey Hovanetz Garza (husband Kyle) and Seth Hovanetz (wife Grace). He is also survived by his wife of 29 years, Kristi Hovanetz; his sisters, Candy Hovanetz and Cheryl Mortimer; his brother, Michael Hovanetz; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Carolyn Hovanetz, and his sister, Charlene Concannon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at New Life Church in Denton, Texas. For more information, please visit https://www.newlifedenton.org/ .
