Stanley H. Hoit, 88 of Denton, TX. Passed away on April 14, 2016 after a short illness. He was born in Colchester, Illinois and raised in Lee's Summit, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS and MS in agriculture. He worked as a county agent and then worked for Farmland Industries where he retired after many years as a farm chemical and fertilizer sales manager. He entered the Army in September of 1951 as a commissioned second Lieutenant. He was assigned to the 7th Infantry Division in 1952. He also served with the 48th FIeld Artillery Battalion as a commander and the 32nd Infantry Regiment. He served two years active duty and 24 years in the National Guard of Missouri and two years USAR. He was a graduate of Field Artillery Battery Officers, Signal Officers course, Command and Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth and Industrial College of Armored Forces.
In Korea he was awarded the United Nation's Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, The Bronze Star, Meritorious Service and Campaign Ribbon. He also served in the 129th Field Artillery "D" Battery and was in the honor guard for President Harry S. Truman. He retired on July 7, 1979 from the reserves as a Lt. Colonel. Recently, he was a proud member of the American Legion and various Army organizations.
Stanley met his wife, Patricia when his cousin was attending the University of Kansas Nursing School and introduced them. They married on January 29, 1955. They have enjoyed 61 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, as well as a son, Scott A. Hoit of Denton, TX. And a daughter Gayle E. Hoit, also of Denton, TX. He also has a brother, Harrison Hoit and wife, Patsy, of Butler, MO. His sisters preceded him in death. He is also survived by brothers-in-laws, sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends from work, college and church. He has been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Denton since he and Pat moved here over 12 years ago, where he served as an elder.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church 703 N. Elm, Denton, TX. On Tuesday, April 19th @ 11:00 am with a lunch to follow. Interment will be at the Blue Springs Missouri Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
