Obituary

Stanley Alan Baar born December 17, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, third son and youngest child of Leopold and Esther Sokolow Baar. He graduated from Brooklyn's Thomas Jefferson High School, worked in a defense plant and from 1943-1946 served with the Seabees in the Pacific Theater. Following the war he attended Michigan State University, then established Baar Tool Service and later sold men's clothing, plumbing and electronics. He met Anita (Honey) in 1950 in Detroit, MI. They married and had four children, Dr. Roger, Eric, Victoria and Douglas. He served as president of Oakwoods Stamp Club; Oakwoods Lodge, B'nai B'rith; the Lion's Club of Oak Park, MI and was a lifetime member of the Masonic Order. After retirement He and Honey came to Irving to be near their first grandson, Ian, whose favorite word is still "Grandpa". He served as an election judge until his stroke in 2001. Survivors include his wife, 4 children and their spouses, 4 grandsons, sister-in-law, Evelyn Baar, step grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A memorial service will be held at 7:30p.m., Monday, March 5, 2007 at 1852 Cooper Dr., Irving, TX 75061.
