Obituary

Stan Simmons was called home to be with his Savior on February 2, 2022.  Born Stanley Earl Simmons to Alvis and Juanita Simmons in Plainview Texas on October 6, 1942, he graduated from Plainview High School then attended West Texas State University before serving in the Texas Army National Guard.  Stan married his high school sweetheart, Carrell Ann Sawyer, in 1962.

In 1967, Stan joined Pioneer Natural Gas Company holding various management positions, ultimately serving as District Manager in Hereford Texas until 1975 when he opened his own retail floorcovering, gifts and home furnishings store.  For years, Stan actively served on various committees at First Baptist Church of Hereford.  He was President of the Hereford Rotary Club and Chairman of the Deaf Smith County Chamber of Commerce Industrial Foundation.

In 1985 Stan and Carrell Ann moved to Denton Texas.  There, he continued his career in floorcovering managing the DFW market for suppliers, Horizon and Mohawk.  In 1990 Stan again opened his own retail floorcovering store and served Denton area custom builders, commercial properties and retail customers for 31 years.

Stan is survived by his loving wife Carrell Ann Simmons of Denton.  April 7 th , this year, would have been their 60 th wedding anniversary.  Also surviving Stan is his sister Pat Brown of Plainview Texas, his daughter Shelley and son in law Mike Cannon of Aubrey, son Scott and daughter in law Kimberly Simmons of Aledo, his grandchildren Logan Gillingham, Alyssa Simmons, Sawyer and husband Nick Wallace, Baylee Simmons, Michael and wife Whitney Cannon, Cassidy Cannon and Jaxon Simmons, his great granddaughter Stella Jade Wallace, his beloved nephews and their families and cherished family friends Diane & Mark Abel and their children.

Stan, Stanley, Dad, Daddy, PaPa cared deeply.  He loved unconditionally and completely.  He was kind, considerate and giving beyond any measure.  His greatest joy was his family and all who knew him were blessed to know a man of conviction and honor.

A celebration of Stan's life for family and friends will be held on Sunday, February 20 th from 2:00 to 4:00pm at The Denton Woman's Club building, 610 Oakland St. in Denton.
