Obituary

Shirley (Bobbie)Roberts Taylor Patterson, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed quietly into Heaven following a full and happy life, surviving many challenges, finally ending her battle with emphysema on January 18, 2007.
Born September 15, 1926 in Sharpsville, PA to Abel R. and Dorothy K. Roberts (both deceased); sister to James Thomas Roberts, deceased (Liz, of Redlands, CA), and Margaret Roberts Eberhart (Larry, deceased), of Dublin, OH.
Graduate of Penn State University, 1948, member of Tri Delta sorority, realtor and accounting administrator. Twice widowed, loving wife to Lawrence "Jack" Hansen Taylor, D.V.M., in Oxford, PA until his death and that of their 4th child, Mark Ellison Taylor, in 1959, when she moved the family and her mother to Upper Arlington, OH, to be near her sister Margaret. Happily married to James Bruce Patterson, M.D. in 1963, who preceded her in death in 1982. The family were active members of Covenant Presbyterian Church, in Upper Arlington. Her mother passed in 1990, and she moved to Flower Mound, TX in 1992, where those of her children living in Texas were blessed to be close to her for more than 14 years.
Survived by her children: James Roderick Taylor Patterson (Sue) of Upper Arlington, OH, Candace Taylor Patterson Lamel (Jerry) of Double Oak, TX, Jack Roberts Taylor Patterson (Lora) of Copper Canyon, TX, and Bruce Ellison Patterson of Flower Mound, TX; and by her dear step daughters: Caroline Patterson Morris (Jim) of Asherville, North Carolina, Anne Patterson Lawyer (Rusty) of Grandview, OH., Betsy Patterson Sebastian (Dan) of Upper Arlington, OH, and Miriam Patterson Squillace (Alex, deceased) of Livingston, MT. Survived also by her sister-in-law Christina Taylor Yaw (Russell, deceased) of Hummelstown, PA and brother-in-law Charles Howard Taylor (Lois) of Nottingham, PA. She leaves also 18 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She loved family, flowers, singing, reading, needlework, games and crossword puzzles. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and especially remembered for her beautiful singing voice, lovely gardens, wonderful good cooking, and generous assistance to anyone who asked for her help. A small, private graveside memorial is planned for a later date, to bury her cremains along side Dr. Patterson's, in the Dublin, Ohio Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity of your own choosing in her name. Cremation services were arranged through Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, Texas.
