Shirley Ann (Thomas) Anderson
Shirley Ann (Thomas) Anderson passed away peacefully in Denton, Texas, on August 18, 2025, at the age of 77. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and love for her family.
Born on March 16, 1948, in Plainview, Texas, to Joe and Maxine Thomas, Shirley lived a life rooted in devotion to God and care for others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Thomas "Tom Andy" Anderson; her parents, Joe and Maxine Thomas; and her niece, Gena. She is survived by her sons Stacy Nash (wife, Lisa), Brad Nash (wife, Alana), and Troy Anderson (wife, Machelle); her sister, Belinda Bellar (husband, Jim); brothers Gary "Butch" Thomas (wife, Lora) and Sammy Joe Thomas; and her granddaughter, Gracie.
A faithful member of Gateway United Baptist Church in Denton, Shirley loved the Lord deeply and found joy in singing hymns, especially her favorite, In the Garden. She was known for her kind and patient spirit, her immaculate home despite raising three energetic boys, and her open heart, always offering a room to anyone in need. Shirley's hands were never still; she found joy in sewing, growing flowers, playing the piano, singing, and even caring for the neighborhood creatures who always seemed to find their way to her doorstep.
Those who knew her remember her gentle presence, her caring heart, and the way she lived her faith.
A graveside service will be held at Eakins Cemetery, Eakins Cemetery Road, Ponder, Texas, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America in support of advancing care and research, or to the MHMR Foundation in honor of Shirley's service with Texas MHMR.
Her life was a hymn of love, grace, and service—one that will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
