Obituary

Sharon Dianne Phillips, a Denton resident, died on the evening of June 15, 2022. Sharon is survived by her children Chris Thompson and Megan Moran as well as her four grandchildren Laila Thompson, Hadley Thompson, Sidney Thompson, and Madison Moran.

Sharon was born January 2, 1951, in Wyandotte, Michigan. At nineteen she made the trip from Michigan to Texas, where she lived the rest of her life. Like so many others she lived, loved, and lost people along the way; but along that journey she impacted and changed the course of so many lives with her passion and integrity. She welcomed her children, the most important people in her life, in May of 1979 and December of 1986. Sharon was a single mother to her two children, and she worked hard to ensure they never wanted for anything.

She found her niche working at a flooring company as a billing representative and through trials, tribulations, and time she became the Director of Business Strategies and Operations. As a senior manager she impacted the growth of the company but overseeing the Information Technology department she was able to make incredible innovative enhancements to the industry.

As her children grew and married, she happily welcomed Lori Thompson (Hardin) and Jesse Moran as daughter- and son-in-law in December of 2002 and March of 2012. Happily, the growth does not stop there as she welcomed four grandchildren in November of 2007, October of 2009, March of 2014, and May of 2017. When Sharon's grandchildren came into this world her heart was filled each day with pride and love for the amazing young girls growing up with a kindness that is hard to find and impossible to teach. They were her heart, her light, and her inspiration. She loved them fiercely and spoiled them often—as a grandmother's right.

Sharon will be remembered for her love, her light, and her unwavering strength to overcome anything thrown her way. She will be terribly missed—not only by her family, but by friends and acquaintances whose lives were forever changed because of her guidance and understanding.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 pm on Friday, June 24 th at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home on Locust in Denton, TX. Chaplin—and friend—Charlotte Turner will lead the ceremony. Flowers, donations, and condolences may be offered at 3005 Newport Ave. Denton, TX 76209.
