Obituary

Kirkby, Scott Delee (19 Nov 1965 – 24 Dec 2010) Scott was born in Amarillo, Texas to Jacques "Jack" and Merle (Murray) Kirkby. He grew up in Dallas; studied photography at Stephen F. Austin State University where he met his soul mate and future wife, Elizabeth "Beth" Haswell. The couple married in 1991 and were blessed with two wonderful children, Mara and Miles. For the past nine years Scott worked at Texas Woman's University. Previously he had worked for Jack Kirkby and Associates and as a jeweler. Scott was a self-taught master of many trades and enjoyed biking, hiking, camping, fly fishing, metal working and volunteering for a myriad of charities. He was a deeply spiritual man who felt closest to God while exploring the splendor of creation. His strength, kindness, and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Scott is survived by his wife, Beth, and children, Mara and Miles Denton, TX; his parents, Jack and Merle (Murray) Kirkby (Dallas, TX); his sister, Kelly Kirkby Jones Frisco, TX; grandmother, Ruby (Garrett) Murray, Comanche, OK mother-in-law Betsy (Vardeman) Haswell Richardson,TX; brothers-in-law Joe V. Haswell and Michael A. Haswell; aunts and uncles Roy and Vivian Knapp, Harris and Patsy Powers, Karl "Buddy" and Joy Englund all of OK, Rev John and Jane Gilbert Corpus Christi, TX, Marcia Hazlett Holland, NY; niece Sarah and husband Nathan Priest, nephew Hayden Kirkby, niece Tiffany (Haswell) Coven and husband Scott, nephews Drew and Brandon Haswell, great nieces Hazel Olivia and Ellie Marguerite Priest; and a multitude of loving cousins and friends, including his best friend and sister of his heart, Jennifer Seaborn Denver, CO.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and dear friend, Henry "Hank" Haswell; grandmother, Marguerite Kirkby; grandfather, Sidney Murray; and beloved Uncle Edd Hazlett.
Honorary pallbearers: Hayden Kirkby, Roy Knapp, Harris Powers, Karl "Buddy" Englund, Rev. John Gilbert, Joe V. Haswell, Michael A. Haswell, Mike Anderson, Guy Gray, and Peter Brigaitis.
A memorial service will be held at one o'clock p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church of Denton, 201 S. Locust St., Denton, TX. Rev.Andy Stoker, Rev. Lisa Marshall and Rev. Deana Ferguson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to either the FUMC Denton Youth Ministry or theideafoundation.org.
