Dr. Scott Haggard, 84 of Denton, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010. He was born July 17, 1925 in Dallas, Texas to J. C. and Quincy (Scott) Haggard of Plano, Texas. Following his graduation from Plano High School, he entered Texas A & M University where he earned a Veterinary Medicine Degree, He went on to Baylor College of Medicine School, and earned his Doctor of Medicine Degree.. Following graduation, he married Virginia Wooldridge on June 17, 1951 in Houston, Texas. He began his general medical practice in Denton in August 1954 until his retirement in 1988.
Dr. Haggard had an incredible mind for remembering facts about people, and always had a funny story to tell! He excelled at every hobby he tried from cooking to photography, and especially enjoyed his woodcarving and traveling with his motor home group in his retirement years. He was a member of Denton Bible Church and above all, never failed to thank his God for the life, family, and success the He allowed him to have.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 22, 2010 in the Chapel of Denton Bible Church, with Rev. Tommy Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. on Monday at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. Memorials may be made to Denton Bible Church, 2300 E. University Dr. Denton, TX 76209 or Camp Copass, 8200 E. He is survived by his wife Virginia; daughter and son-in-law, Sallie and Paul Baker of Weatherford, son , Scott Haggard, Jr. of Dallas, two grandsons Drs. Chris and Erica Baker of Houston, and Clint Baker of Waco. He was preceded in death by his daughter Rebecca Quinn Haggard in 2006.
