Sanjuana Escamilla Gonzalez age 78 of Denton passed away Sunday September 27, 2009 at Denton Regional Center. She was born June 24, 1931 in Cienega De Flores N.L. Mexico. She married Emilio Perez Gonzalez February 4, 1950 in Monterrey, Mexico. He passed away May 28, 2007. Sanjuana was a cook for the University of North Texas for 25 years. She created a dish called Sanjuana Chicken and Rice which is still served at the University.
She is survived by the daughter Sandra Salas of Denton. Sons Emilio Gonzalez of Denton, and Eduardo Gonzalez of Montague. Sister Amelia Barajas of Monterrey, Mexico. Nine grandchildren and 10 great, grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be in Montague, Texas at the St. Williams Catholic Church at 11:00 am Thursday October 1, 2009. Burial will follow at Montague Cemetery. Father Richard Collins will conduct the mass. Visitation will be Tuesday September 29, 2009 from 6 to 8 pm and Wednesday September 30, 2009 6 to 8 pm with the Rosary at 7 pm.
