IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra Jean
Anderson
August 9, 1941 – December 26, 2022
Sandra Jean Vincent Anderson, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt; peacefully returned to her heavenly father, December 26th, 2022. She was born August 9th, 1941, in Winsted, Connecticut, daughter of Norman Edelbert Vincent, Sr. and Mary Eleanor Anderson Vincent.
Sandy grew up in Spokane, WA and spent many wonderful times with her sisters and brother enjoying the Northwest camping around the many lakes which would make an indelible impression and motivation for her entire life. The family also lived in Northern California, Couer d'Alene, ID, and Salt Lake City, UT. They eventually settled in North Texas where most of her family still resides.
Over decades of employment in various fields she worked in many different positions in the medical field, including her early years at Kaiser Hospital in Northern California and later years in Idaho and Utah.
When she and Boyd moved to Texas, she created an opportunity to begin an entrepreneurial effort named Secretarial Services Plus, a "Shared workspace" environment that was featured in the local paper.
During her career she earned a Master's Degree in English from Texas Women's University with a 4.0 GPA.
She eventually gravitated to the University of North Texas and was very proud of the work she did as the Secretary for Norval F. Pohl, the Provost and EVP.
As a convert to her religion, she was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Sandy married Boyd Leroy Anderson in 1969 and they were sealed in the Oakland Temple in 1971 for time and all eternity.
Sandy served in many callings in her church over her years. One of her joys and passions was the time spent doing genealogy research for her family and she loved to do her ancestor's temple work in the LDS Temple whenever possible.
She remained a devout member, until her passing where she was reunited with her eternal companion, Boyd.
Sandy loved all animals, especially horses. During her lifetime she owned several horses and at one point adopted 3 wild mustangs to take care of, as this was her passion.
Preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Mary Vincent and her sister Jerene Vincent Wood.
Survived by her son Edmond William (Laurie) Anderson, son Lee (Leslie) Christiansen, and daughter Jennifer A. Gellner, two sisters, Pamela Louise Vincent, Charlotte Mary (Michael) Hansen, brother Norman (Rosemary) Vincent Jr, and many grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to her sister Pam Vincent, who cared for and spent countless hours with Sandy. They were "buddies" and had lots of adventures together, including river rafting, a cruise to Alaska and cross-country travel to see the sights and history that they loved to visit.
A viewing will be held in her honor on Thursday, January 5th from 6-8 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Denton Stake Center, 3000 Old North Road, Denton, TX 76201.
A graveside burial service will be held Friday, January 6th at 10:30 am at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
