Sandi McDonald West (Florence Ida MacLean) Born May 8,1930 in Lowell Massachusetts. Died March 11,2023 in her home of 53 years in Denton Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents Walter MacLean and Celina Lalime MacLean, sister Persis McClellan Sterling and son Todd Fraser McDonald.
She is survived by her children Brooke Goodfriend (Ira), Ned McDonald (Evelyn), Reid McDonald, Heather McLean, grandchildren Carl Parker, Chris Albro, Amy Acker, Ashley Acker (Lan), Hunter McDonald (Meagan), Martin Goodfriend and great grandchildren Emma Parker, Adrian Parker and Julian Acker Duong.
Sandi fought her cancer courageously and often joked with the oncology nurses that "Next week I'll be dancing on tables ".
She passed away as she had wished, in her home and happily laughing with her caregivers the day before.
Sandi was very intelligent, graduating from high school at age 16 and college at age 20. She married and had 5 children within nine years during which she also volunteered as a nurse aid at local hospitals and was active in the Junior Women's League.
She began her life long career as a pioneer in Montessori education in the 1960's and became the head of lower school at the Selwyn School in 1970. She also established one of the first mobile Montessori training facilities. She touched the lives of thousands of people not only in the United States but internationally as well. She was a one of a kind person and a blessing to the world.
