It is with great sorrow that the family of Samuel Maples announces his passing. As he was surrounded by his loving family, the angels came to take him home on December 8, 2017 at the age of 69 in Denton, Texas.

Samuel was born on December 30, 1947 to Robert and Lucy Maples in Denton, Texas.  He was the baby brother to Lucy Jo, Jane and Polly. On June 13, 1970, Samuel married Sharon Hubacek and raised three children. He worked at M.E. Moses as an assistant manager, Barker Bratton as a welder, and then Victor Equipment as a machinist.

Samuel's kind, gentle nature, and silent strength will live forever in our hearts. Left to honor and remember his love are his wife, Sharon Maples; daughter, Amy Voss, and her husband Eric, daughter, Christy Schwermer and her husband Roger; son, Samuel Chance Maples; sister, Lucy Jo Blocker, sister, Jane Nuckels and her husband David, sister, Polly Murphey; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his most beautiful, silliest, most wonderful granddaughter a PaPa could ever ask for, Sara Grace Voss who brought great light and joy into his life with her smiles, laughter, artwork, and countless hours of playing toy horses.

Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucy Maples; brother-in-law, Charlie Blocker; brother-in-law, Johnny Murphey, and nephew Brock Nuckels.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, December 14, 2017 in the Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jack Howard, Monya Howard, and Don Pitts officiating. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Interment will follow at Trinity Cemetery, Denton.

In lieu of flowers, Samuel would have wanted everyone to go and enjoy a Burger King Whopper in memory of him.
