Sammie Hershel Foreman McConnell, 85, of Denton, was called home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, October 30, 2021, from Corinth Rehabilitation and Suites.

Sammie was born April 13th, 1936, in French Camp, California. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a young man, then went on to became a truck driver. In his latter years, Sammie found a passion for cooking that led him to his "Sugar".

Sammie then married his "Sugar", Josefina Guerra, on August 15th, 1997, in Denton Texas. Together they attended the Singing Oaks Church of Christ.

Sammy is survived by his wife, Josefina McConnell of Denton, Texas, two daughters, Bonita Martin of Fontana, California, and Kimberly Ann Ramos of Grapevine, Texas, two sons, Conway Hershel McConnell of Weatherford, Texas, and Gaylon Shane McConnell of Denton, Texas, 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and another on the way. He was preceded in death by his daughter Tracy Jane McConnell, and brother Grady McConnell.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 5th, 2021, in the chapel of Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, at 705 N. Locust Street, in Denton, Texas, from 1:00 till 2:00 p.m., followed promptly by the funeral service.
