Sammie "Sam" M. Mangum a longtime resident of Saginaw, TX slipped into eternal rest on December 30, 2009. Born in Dallas, TX on November 2, 1926 he was 83 years young. Sam was married to Dorothy Farmer Mangum for 39 years and combined; their family included 8 children, 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Sam served in the Navy during WWII as a Seaman 1st Class on the USS Harris and maintained contact with his fellow shipmates and their families throughout the decades. He was a 60 year member of Carpenter's Local #429, was an avid hunter, fisherman and devoted husband, father and grand-father. Preceded in death by his Mother, Ethel, Father, I.D., Brother, "Bud", Sister, Annie, and son Kenneth Hallmark. Survivors: Wife, Dorothy, three sons, William Mangum of Lewisville, Joe Paul Mangum of Haslet, Wayne Hallmark of Arlington, four daughters, Betty Mangum Hahn of Brookstone, Linda Mangum Hastings of Ponder, Judy Hallmark Shook of Kemp and Wanda Hallmark Crow of Plano. Sam's life will be celebrated with full military honors at 1:00 PM on January 21, 2010 at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery at 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy – Dallas, TX 75211 and followed by a gathering at Spring Creek Bar-B-Q – 4108 Carrier Parkway in Grand Prairie of his family, friends and neighbors.
