Sam D. Wooten, age 73, of Lewisville, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2008, in Carrollton.
He was born July 27, 1935 in Columbus, Mississippi to Samuel D. Wooten, Sr. and Marie Cox Wooten.Sam married Darlene Marlowe on July 21, 1955 in Durant, Oklahoma. He was a former Boy Scout Leader and was a member of the North Texas Water Utilities Association. Sam was a member of Cindy Lane Baptist Church in Lewisville and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He retired from the City of Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Darlene; daughter, Marilyn Kay Krebs and husband, Terence of Grapevine; son, Samuel Brent Wooten of Coppell; mother, Marie Wooten of Lewisville; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2008, at Cindy Lane Baptist Church in Lewisville. Interment followed at Jackson Cemetery in Krum. The family requests memorial contributions made to the National Rifle Association, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, Virginia 22030.
