Ruth Rasbury Schmidt, 88, of North Richland Hills, formerly of Denton, died Sunday, October 5, 2008 at her home.  She was born September 16, 1920  in Newark, Texas to William Avery and Anniee Lee (Lynn) Rasbury. She was a graduate of Decatur High School and Cosmetology School, and worked as a Cosmetologist and Homemaker.  She was married to the Late Col Jess E. Schmidt on October 23, 1943 in Fort Worth, TX he died in November 1993. after a Military career that took them to many World wide places, England, Germany, Japan and many other places. They returned to Denton to make their home, and she became a member of the First Baptist Church in 1960.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 in the Chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, with Rev. John Church officiating.  Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery in Valley View, Texas. The family will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 for visitation from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.

Mrs. Schmidt is survived by a daughter, Pamela J. Edwards, of Waco, son Kenneth Ralph Schmidt, of Denton,   sisters Alma Jean Walker, and husband Hestel,  of North Richland Hills, , and Minnie Lee Locke-Morris,  of North Richalnd Hills, and a brother, Guinn Rasbury and wife Linda, of Houston, and three Grandchildren,  Audrey and husband Rev. John Church,  Tina and Matt Schmidt,  Great Grandchildren, Chantel Schmidt, Kallie, Tyer, and Courtney Church.  She is also survived by several Nieces, Nephews, and many other Extended Family members and friends.
