Obituary

Ruth Annette Conder was born Dec 10, 1947 in Oak Cliff, Texas, daughter of Atwell Conder and Maridell Payne Conder. She is survived by her sister, Vicki Carter, her son, Bryan Brown and his wife Liz and their children Jessica and Josh and her daughter Stacy Murphy and her husband Ken and their children Katy, Ty, John, Erin, Alex, Owen and Savannah.  Ruth is also survived by very a special extended family including uncle Gene, uncle Darwin and her dear cousin Regina to name just a few.

Ruth grew up in Dallas and graduated from Sunset High School in 1967. One month after turning 22, she gave birth to Stacy and Bryan was born 4 1/2 years later. Through much of her life, Ruth served as a single parent to her kids and she did everything to provide the best life for her family. And at times, that meant holding 2-3 jobs, working 17 hour days, never complaining and doing what needed to be done. At the same time, Ruth was very close to friends of her kids and became a "second mom" to so many, always offering an ear or advice for anyone that needed it. She had a unique sense to say the right thing or to say nothing at all and just listen. Ruth put everyone else's needs in front of her own, and she was a trusted advisor and friend to so many.  Through life's ups and downs, Ruth refused to lose and she worked hard to live life as a survivor and winner. The upbeat attitude and beautiful smile she carried every day was infectious. She always knew how to brighten your day and make you smile with her kind heart and quick-witted sass.

For the past decade, Ruth lived with Stacy and her family, and through this time, she played a critically important role in the family. Her cabin on the hill above the family's house served as an escape for the 7 kids, a steadfast confidant for all 7 teenagers as they navigated life, an overseer and fierce protector for the kids, and even gave Stacy and Ken the opportunity to get away from 7 kids and spend time together. She was a guidance counselor, your biggest supporter, and so many more things to the entire family and anyone that knew her. Ruth played such a critical role in the Murphy family, and she touched everyone she met by knowing exactly what each person needed at exactly the right time.

Ruth's presence will be greatly missed by all but take comfort in knowing she's in heaven still being our guardian angel and finally finishing all those crafty projects she loved so much.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 21, 2019 in the chapel of Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton.
