Rose Mary (Avant) Lawyer lost her 3-year battle with cancer on Saturday, August 09, 2025 in Northlake, Texas. Her family will ever be grateful for the priesthood blessings, prayers, fasts, love and support, and skillful medical care offered on her behalf during her valiant struggle.

Rosemary was born on October 16, 1956 in El Paso, TX to Ira Marshall Avant, Jr (Tom) and Eloise (Mathews) Avant. She was the fifth of six children to bless their home. Her young life was quite adventurous as her family - including her grandparents and great-grandparents - spent as much time as possible in the outdoors camping, fishing, and generally enjoying nature.  She was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in El Paso, TX and remained a faithful and active member all her life.

It was in El Paso that she met and married her high school sweetheart, Matthew Charles Lawyer on January 4, 1975 in the Manti, Utah Temple. Their lives were blessed with what Rosemary calls her greatest joy and blessing: her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; Rachelle and James Gowins and their daughters Jamie and Alyssa; Adam and Jenna (Malmberg) and their children Evan, Grace, Jacob, and Emrie; Rebecca; Aaron and Katrina (Dalton) and their children Matthew, Samantha, and Charlotte; and Benjamin and Terri (Hawk) and their children Drake and Rylee. Jamie made Grammy a Great-Grammy when she and her husband Sean Grippin welcomed daughters Penelope and Lillian.

Rosemary's kindness and gentle wisdom was appreciated by all who knew her. She was an accountant by profession and earned a concurrent Bachelor and Masters of Science Degree from the University of North Texas. Earlier this year, she semi-retired from a long career as CPA and Controller/CFO to serve as a NInJA Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints focusing on Family History - another of her great loves.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; her siblings Libby Avant Brinegar and Rickie; Ira (Mike) Avant Carla; Tomie Avant; and June Avant Taylor; her brother-in-law Dale Roth; Matt's siblings Karen Lawyer Pettingill and Cliff; Daniel Lawyer and Ellen; Gracie Lawyer Rose and Mike; and Matt's sister-in-law Nancy. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many others who loved her.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her stepfather Gale Lamoreaux; her sister Marsha(Avant) Roth; Matt's parents Charles C Lawyer and Grace (Lewis) Lawyer; and Matt's siblings David Lawyer and Carol Lawyer.

Services for Rosemary will be held Friday, August 15, 2025 at 11:00am with a visitation beginning at 10:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Trophy Club Chapel at 2509 Trophy Club Dr, Trophy Club, TX 76262. A private interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas.
