Ronald David Vanzura passed away on December 8, 2015, in Lake Dallas, Texas. He was born on January 9, 1943, in Austin, Texas, to Albert and Albina Vanzura. Ron married his sweetheart, Linda Carol McNabb, on August 26, 1967. He was a graduate of Kimball High School in Dallas, Texas. Ron attended the University of Texas at Arlington where he received a Bachelor's of Business Administration and continued his education at St. Mary's Law School in San Antonio, receiving a Jurist Doctor.
While Ron was in high school, he achieved Eagle Scout status and he received the Order of the Arrow. While attending college, he was a Reservist in the United States Army, 49th Armored Division in Dallas and San Antonio. Ron practiced law in Denton for over forty years as a Prosecutor and Defense Attorney.
Ronnie never met a stranger. He enjoyed being with family and friends, telling stories and laughing. Ron was a genuine, kind-hearted man who would rather serve others than himself. He was a man of great integrity, honor, and compassion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Albina, and son-in-law, Mike Annis. Ron is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Vicki Annis; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Nikki Vanzura; grandchildren, Reed Vanzura, and Ryleigh and Reagan Yaklin; sister and brother-in-law, Eugene and Vivian Waggoner; niece, Sabrina Straughn Cash; and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2015, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Denton. Mass will be held on December 14, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denton, Texas. Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Mausoleum in Dallas, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or the SPCA, Denton Chapter.
