Roger Stanley Nevels, 93 years of age, passed away Sunday , May 24, 2009 in Lewisville, Texas. Mr. Nevels was the son of the late Allen and Nannie Lucinda (Lyles) Nevels of Union Church Mississippi.  He was born August 30, 1915, the youngest of twelve children.  All siblings have pre-deceased Mr. Nevels.  He served in the Marine Corps from 1935-1939 as part of the U.S. Embassy Guard Unit in Peiping (now Peking) China at the time of the Japanese invasion.  Following his time in the Marines, he worked as a roughneck in the west Texas oilfields until 1947, at which time he became a watch repairman and opened his jewelry store in Meridian, Texas.  In 1959 he began his twenty year service with Texas Instruments in Richardson, Texas working on the early stages of the integrated circuit.

He is survived by his five daughters' and their families:  Linda & Clyde Cauthen, Huntsville, Texas;  Sue Swift, Lewisville, Texas;  Bette & aHH Harry Herbst, Lewisville, Texas;  Nancy Nevels, Allen, Texas; and Rhonda & Frank Reagan, Tyler, Texas.  He leaves behind twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  He also leaves three step-children, Gene Foster, Judy Travis and David Foster & families.  His wives, Mabel Whitney Nevels and Mary Katherine Nevels preceded him in death.

Special thanks are given to long time friends, Robbie & Opal Skinner of Plano and the loving caregivers in his later years.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 26 from 6-8pm at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.  Services will be Wednesday, May 27 at the funeral home at 10 a.m., with burial following in Merit, Texas at 2 pm. For online condolences please go to www.mulkeymason.com.
